- Morocco's Incumbent Operator Decides on Ease-of-Use and Leading-Edge Technology - WOODLAND HILLS, CA, April 12, 2006 - APEX Voice Communications, a worldwide supplier of Multi-Service Platforms and Applications Servers for enhanced services, today announced that Maroc Telecom (Itissalat Al-Magrhib) has upgraded all of its APEX Multi-Service Platforms (MSP™) from OmniVox® to OmniVox3D. Installed and supported by Euromag, one of APEX's leading Value Added Resellers (VARs) in North Africa, the new OmniVox3D Applications Servers continue servicing popular automated customer service applications. OmniVox3D is the latest generation of Application Servers from APEX for both the IP (SIP/IMS) and PSTN networks. Maroc Telecom, Morocco's incumbent telecommunications operator and the country's market leader in fixed-line and mobile telecommunications, as well as Internet access, installed its first APEX MSP with OmniVox in June of 2000. Purchased in order to address issues arising from changed telephone numbers, OmniVox has been used over the last six years for such services as Number Translation and Call Completion. When Maroc Telecom changed its database to Oracle 10g®, Euromag decided to find a simpler interface between the APEX MSP and the database. In doing their research, they discovered that a move to OmniVox3D would not only simplify their database connection, but also offer a high level interface to the ISDN User Part needed for Number Translation and Call Completion. "Once we presented to Maroc Telecom the OAM&P functions and features of OmniVox3D and the possible future services it could be used to implement on SIP or IMS, it was an easy decision for them to migrate" said Samir Idrissi, General Manager of Euromag. "We found the application conversion tools to be very helpful, and while the OmniView® Service Creation interface has advanced significantly, it was still very familiar and easy to use." The OmniVox3D Application Server is uniquely designed around web technologies, making it the perfect fit for high volume services like those at Maroc Telecom. OmniVox3D's modular design makes it the best fit for any network, whether it utilizes VXML Gateways or IMS Softswitches.
