The demand to work from anywhere with the user’s device of choice is increasing dramatically, due to the mobility of today’s workforce and the continued need for immediate customer satisfaction. However, the “any device to any device” challenge in video communications is not limited only to the workforce, as consumers have begun to heavily use services which were once reserved for the workforce. For example, with the likes of Skype (Microsoft), jajah (Telefonica) and Google+, Video Conferencing has now become a standard service for anyone to use, whether on a mobile device (e.g. smartphone, tablet), computer (e.g. desktop, notebook, netbook), or television set.

To address the “any device” challenge in Video Conferencing, Network Operators and Value Added Services (VASPs) around the world are turning to the APEX Video Conferencing System. Based on the APEX Service Delivery Platform (APEX SDP) with support for CIF, VGA, and 720p with H.264, the APEX Video Conferencing System is a complete wideband/HD audio and HD video conferencing platform that seamlessly integrates with existing mobile/3G/4G (LTE) and IP/IMS converged networks, and is device agnostic for maximum market penetration.

The APEX Video Conferencing System’s flexible design enables it to be configured either as a single APEX SDP with an integrated media server, or an APEX SDP providing Conferencing services through multiple media servers. With the OmniVox3D Application Server, servers are accessed across local or distributed networks, using the latest SIP and Markup Language technology.

The display/layout options supported by the APEX Video Conferencing System include Voice Activated Switching and Continuous Presence (Tiled). With Voice Activated Switching, callers see the real-time video stream of the active speaker, which is ideal and beneficial for mobile handsets as they have a limited screen size. Continuous Presence shows multiple sites continuously and supports multiple real-time video streams within a multi-pane display, based on APEX’s Dynamically Adaptable Viewing* technology.

Additionally, the APEX Video Conferencing System supports various multi-media (e.g. PowerPoint, Live TV) and web 2.0 streams (e.g. Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Linkedin) into a conference through its powerful multi-media Composition Engine.

Key Technological Features supported by the APEX Video Conferencing Systems include:

  • Any Device to Any Device (Mobile Devices, Computers, TVs)
  • 3G/4G (LTE) & SIP Networks
  • Voice Activated Switching & Continuous Presence
  • E-Mail & SMS Notifications
  • Lecture Mode
  • Scheduled, Permanent, & Instant Conferences
  • Integration to OSS & BSS
  • SOAP Interface to Existing Web Portals
  • Web-Based Provisioning & Management
  • Multi-Media Composition Engine
