APEX Voice Communications Announces Release 5.0 of its APEX Billing System.
New User Interface and Increased Security add to an Already Robust Carrier-Grade Prepaid and Postpaid Billing Solution
SHERMAN OAKS, CA, August 28, 2002 – APEX Voice Communications, a leading supplier of IP and TDM-based enhanced services and billing solutions to wireless and wireline carriers, service providers and enterprises worldwide, recently announced the release of version 5.0 of its APEX Billing System. An all-in-one, carrier-grade, transaction-based call rating and billing system, Release 5.0 includes a new graphical user interface (GUI), enhanced security and support for Red Hat Linux.
New GUI
APEX Billing System's new graphical user interface now includes a more intuitive access method with the new tree-view display. Similar to the look-and-feel of Microsoft® Windows® Explorer, this display allows for customizing tree-view data by department and user groups, and provides increased user-friendly options such as scalable windows and preferences for color schemes. Additionally, the data within the tree-view is now configurable for such things as specifying the sort sequence, what levels to display, auto-expanding of folders and deciding the number of columns to be displayed.
Robust Security
The already robust security in APEX Billing has been even further enhanced in Release 5.0 by giving users up to 10 levels of security. There are now security levels for every item in the tree-view, which is based on department and user groups. For a user to access any item within tree- view, their security level must be equal to or greater then the security level for that item, completely eliminating any user from accessing items where they do not have the appropriate security level. For even greater security, each screen, along with every individual field (column) within that screen, is also protected by the same level of security, with options for "inaccessible" (invisible), "view only" (visible) and "full access" (update).
Red Hat Linux Support
APEX Billing now supports the Linux operating system from Red Hat, the leading provider of Linux. With more than 15 million users worldwide, Linux benefits include a lower total cost of ownership and an open-source foundation, along with stability, reliability and performance. According to IDC, one in six servers now ships with Linux – and the majority of those servers are running Red Hat Linux. Red Hat has won support from major companies in the computing industry, including IBM, Intel, Netscape, Oracle, Dell, Compaq, Informix, Sybase, Corel and Hewlett-Packard.
Multi-Language Screen and Enhanced Monitoring
Two additional features to the APEX Billing System include the new multi- language screen display and an enhanced monitoring tool. With the multi- language screen display, APEX Billing screens can be translated/customized into different languages for both viewing and data input, with the capability of having multiple language versions resident on an individual machine. The monitoring tool now allows for on-screen monitoring of the informix database and also provides for software error messages to be optionally sent to APEX for analysis.
