2005 APEX TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE FOR LATIN
AMERICA
DRAWS ATTENDEES FROM NINE COUNTRIES

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL., APEX Technology Conference APEX Voice Communications, a worldwide supplier of enhanced multi-service platforms, announced that its 2005 APEX Technology Conference for Latin America recently held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, drew customers from nine Latin American countries that included wireline and wireless Service Providers/Carriers and Enterprises.  The three-day event, held in Spanish for current customers, included presentations by APEX on its Multi-Service Platform, Service-Ready Solutions, and Media Server Software, as well as presentations from APEX’s Value Added Resellers and Technology Partners.  Additionally, various awards were presented to Customers at an awards dinner in recognition of outstanding achievements made in 2004.  The 2005 Latin American edition of the conference was sponsored by Intel, NEC and Scansoft  and held at the Fort Lauderdale Crowne Plaza Hotel.

 

“The contents of the presentations were extremely useful as they covered both the current APEX product line as well as upcoming products,” said Jose Manuel Tolentino, Supervisor of Engineering for Marcatel International in Mexico.  “Also, as the presentations were in Spanish, it made it easier to interact with each presenter and completely understand the presentations.  My colleagues and I look forward to attending next year’s Conference.”

 

The Technology Conference’s primary purpose was to provide an overview of APEX’s current products and services, as well as a technology roadmap of future products.  Products covered included the OmniVox® AES Media Server Software, the OmniView® Service Creation Environment/OAM&P and the APEX Multi-Service Platform, as well as Service Ready Solutions such the APEX Prepaid System and the APEX Messaging System.  The technology presentations ranged from VXML, SIP/VoIP and SS7/AIN to Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) and other third-party integrations.

 

“In addition to learning about the different products and services APEX has to offer, the format of the Conference was very conducive to networking,” said Jose Ricardo Polonio, Chief Technical Officer for Excetel in Costa Rica.  “I was able to have meetings with other attendees, expanding Excetel’s possibility of doing business across Latin America.”

 

On the second night of the Conference, an awards dinner was held where five Customers were recognized for outstanding achievements in 2004 –

 

• Mercury Communications Argentina – Largest Upgrade to OmniVox AES

• Comcel Colombia – Most Innovative Implementation of OmniVox AES for SS7

• Excetel Costa Rica – Largest Volume OmniVox AES Sale

• ICE Costa Rica – Largest OMniVox AES Deployment

• Marcatel Internationa Mexico – Implementation of Most Innovative Prepaid Applications

 

Each of these five customers received an award and a plaque engraved with their specific achievemnt.

 

Also, to facilitate those who were interested in learning more about OmniVox AES, a two-day training class was held immediately after the Conference where one-third of the Conference attendees attended.  In addition to OmniVox AES, the training class also covered Intel’s NetStructure Host Media Processing and ScanSoft’s SpeechWorks Automated Speech Recognition.
